See what happens to your Danish dictation
"øh hej altså jeg ville bare høre om du kan tage med til møde på fredag"
"oh hej altsa jeg ville bare hore om du kan tage med til mode pa fredag"
"Hej, jeg ville bare høre, om du kan tage med til møde på fredag?"
Apple dictation doesn't understand Danish
Apple's built-in dictation turns ø into o, æ into ae, and å into a. "Rødgrød" becomes "rodgrod". "København" becomes "Kobenhavn". Every sentence needs manual correction before you can send it.
Danish filler words — altså, øh, jo, ikke også — are left in your text as if they were part of the message. The dictation engine has no understanding of Danish names, cities, or compound words. Try dictating "Ålborg" or "Østerbro" and watch what happens.
And if you mix Danish and English in the same sentence, which most Danish speakers do daily, the whole output falls apart. Apple forces you to pick one language. Real life doesn't work that way.
Aivo: Danish dictation that gets every character right
Aivo is a keyboard for iPhone built from scratch for Danish and other Nordic languages. Tap the microphone, speak naturally in Danish, and get clean text that's ready to send.
Æ Ø Å always preserved
æ, ø, and å stay exactly as they should. "Rødgrød" stays "Rødgrød", not "rodgrod".
Danish filler words removed
Strips altså, øh, jo, ikke også, and liksom automatically so your text reads clean.
Danish names and cities
Knows København, Ålborg, Østerbro, Frederiksberg, and other Danish proper nouns.
Danish-English code-switching
Mix Danish and English in the same sentence. Aivo detects the switch and processes each part correctly.
Aivo vs Apple: the same Danish sentence, two different results
Here's what happens when you dictate a simple Danish sentence through Apple dictation versus Aivo.
"Jeg skal mode ham pa Osterbro klokken halv tre"
ø → o • å → a • No punctuation
"Jeg skal møde ham på Østerbro klokken halv tre."
ø å preserved • Correct punctuation • Ready to send

Frequently asked questions
Virker det med æ ø å? / Does it preserve æ ø å?
Yes. Aivo always preserves æ, ø, and å when you dictate in Danish. Unlike Apple's built-in dictation, which often replaces ø with o, æ with ae, and å with a, Aivo keeps every Danish character exactly as it should be. Rødgrød stays Rødgrød.
Er det bedre end Apple diktering? / Is it better than Apple dictation for Danish?
For Danish, yes. Apple dictation was built for English and struggles with Danish characters, filler words, and compound words. Aivo preserves æ ø å, removes Danish filler words like altså, øh, jo, and ikke også, and correctly handles Danish names, cities, and compound words.
Kan den også engelsk? / Does it also work with English?
Yes. Aivo automatically detects when you switch between Danish and English mid-sentence. If you say "Jeg har et meeting klokken to", Aivo processes the Danish and English parts correctly without any manual language toggle.
